Whats new in Parent Education?
| Dear SNACK Families:
I wanted to update you on a new direction we have decided to take with our Parent Education Program. To review a little history, we added Parent Ed to our roster of services about 2 years, after we started the program, as there were so few, if any programs, that we felt addressed issues that we thought were important to our families. Fortunately we have seen a wealth of Parent Education Workshops materialize since we first started:
In the years since, we have seen some wonderful speakers and had an opportunity to engage in some great discussion, while learning ways in which to help our kids and our families.
We added a “Parent Night Out” component about one year ago that has become quite popular with families. It’s select Friday nights and it gives parents a chance to leave their kids at SNACK having fun while everyone gets some well needed alone time. The kids have dinner together, play air hockey , watch a movie, listen to music – things kids do on a Friday night. Parents get 2.5 hours to go to dinner, catch a movie, take a nap! We hope to add these regularly going forward. Thanks, Jackie Ceonzo SNACK & Friends, Inc. Previous Parent Education Lecture Series guest speakers include: Dr. Vincent Carbone, Director of the Carbone Clinic Dr. Cecilia McCarton of the McCarton Center Dr. Charles Cartwright, Director of YAI Autism Center Regina Skyer, Esq. of Skyer, Castro, Foley and Gersten David Kirby, author of Evidence of Harm Gary Mayerson and Tracy Walsh of Mayerson and Associates |
